Date : Saturday, November 6th, 2010
Time : 2:00 pm
Venue : E109, E Building, American University in Dubai

Among the tumor suppressors identified in Drosophila, lgl is one of a few whose proliferative phenotype is shown to be secondary to a loss of cell polarity. Mutations in Drosophila lgl lead to the formation of epithelial and brain overgrowths which are autonomous and have metastatic characteristics. Thus, studies of lgl mutant phenotypes may contribute to our understanding of both tumorigenesis as well as neural development mechanisms.
